Kou Sakamoto (坂本コウ, Sakamoto Kou) is a shinobi of Konohagakure's Sakamoto clan. Although despite his personal dislike of responsibility and Lazy behavior. He possesses a great intellect that consistently allows him to prevail in combat. The responsibilities that these successes leave him with cause him frequent annoyance, but he gladly accepts them so that he may be of service to his fellow members of Team 10, and to prove himself to generations of the past and future.

Kou acts very light-hearted he possesses an intellect which matches his fellow team member Shikamaru. however, Kou feels he has no reason to actually worry about politics or the stability of the Village. Easily regarding the conflicts in the land as "pointless" or "bothersome",
When he personally experiences the hardship Kou is forced to seriously consider his future and undergoes a rapid maturity after the death of his teacher, Asuma Sarutobi, whose loss forces Kou to recognize that the world is not safe that he cannot be kept protected from it forever. After avenging Asuma, Kou takes it upon himself to do all that he can to make things better for future Konoha generations, especially Asuma's then-unborn daughter, Mirai; such is the Will of Fire. He may still balk at the prospect of the work he must do, but he no longer runs from it, even going so far as to argue in favor of difficult choices if it will guarantee his friends' and village's survival.
He eventually gains the confidence to think for himself. Once he no longer concerns himself with meeting other people's expectations, his true qualities begin to shine. His desire is to break the futility he sees in blindly following past traditions in a land of unprecedented harmony.

Kou has a dark brown/black hair with a cowlick in front and distinctive tuft in the back.

Due to his poor grades in the Academy, Kou was thought to be anything but a remarkable ninja, but his potential was demonstrated when he was the one of the only member of his graduating class to become a chūnin during Part I along with Shikamaru and Toshie. Despite being a newly made chūnin, he could hold his own against jonin-level opponents

As a member of the Sakamoto clan, Kou is able to produce sticky carbon cloth that allows him to uses it to bind targets from afar, restraining them from action by knotting the sticky cloth around their bodies. His signature move is the Sticky Carbon Bind Technique
